Rein Terms of Use
Effective October 31, 2026
These terms govern your use of the Rein app, published by Nova Inc. ("we"). By using Rein you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use it. How we handle your data is in the privacy policy.
1. What Rein is
Rein helps you take control of your phone time by blocking the apps you choose: with a quick block, schedules, time or opens limits, and Tight Rein, a strict mode you turn on yourself. Rein runs on Apple's Screen Time technology (and, on Android, the system's own), so it depends on the system enforcing it.
2. Who can use it
Rein is for people managing their own phone. You must be at least 13 years old and, if you're a minor where you live, have a parent's or guardian's permission to buy subscriptions.
3. Your account
An account is optional and is used to keep a copy of your settings. You're responsible for the Apple or Google account you sign in with. You can delete it at any time in Profile → Delete my account.
4. Rein Premium
- Rein is free with limited features. Rein Premium adds, among other things, unlimited blocks and every Tight Rein method. What's included and the price are shown in the app before you buy.
- Subscriptions (yearly and monthly): charged to your Apple (or Google Play) account when you confirm the purchase, and renewed automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can cancel and manage them in your store account settings.
- Free trial: if a plan offers one (for example, 7 days on the yearly plan), the paid plan starts when it ends unless you cancel first. If you allowed notifications, the app reminds you before it ends; the charge is up to the store, not the reminder. Each person can use the trial once.
- One-time purchase ("lifetime"): unlocks Premium forever on the store account you bought it with, with no renewals.
- Per platform: purchases made on iOS work on iOS and purchases made on Android work on Android, even with the same Rein account.
- Refunds: handled by the store under its own rules (Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com).
- If your subscription ends, you keep your blocks, but the free plan's limits come back. A Tight Rein session already running ends at its scheduled time.
5. Blocks and Tight Rein: what you accept
- You choose your blocks and Tight Rein. While Tight Rein is on, it may stop you from editing blocks, deleting or installing apps, or changing the phone's time, depending on the options you turn on.
- There's always an emergency exit: type a phrase and wait for a time that grows with use. We never leave you stuck with no way out.
- Don't use Rein to block apps you may need in an emergency (such as calls, messages or health apps), or in situations where blocking them could be dangerous. The system's emergency calls are never blocked.
- Rein is not medical or psychological treatment. If you feel your phone use is harming you, please seek professional help.
6. Service limitations
We do our best to make blocks work every time, but they depend on the operating system: an update, a system bug, revoking the Screen Time permission or restarting the phone may cause a block not to apply or to apply late. Rein is provided "as is", without any guarantee that it will work without interruptions or errors.
7. Acceptable use
Don't try to copy, decompile or resell Rein, or use it to control someone else's phone without their knowledge.
8. Intellectual property
Rein, its name, design and content belong to Nova Inc. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on your devices.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect damages or for losses resulting from a block applying or failing to apply. Our total liability won't exceed what you paid for Rein in the previous 12 months.
10. Changes and termination
We may update Rein and these terms. For important changes, we'll let you know in the app. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. You can stop using Rein and delete your account at any time.
11. Your consumer rights
Rein is used in many countries. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the consumer protection law of the country where you live gives you; if any clause isn't valid there, the rest still applies.
